Early Embrace

Early Embrace

Early Embrace works towards the holistic wellbeing of young children, their families, and their communities by supporting healing and restorative early childhood learning.

Our network of programs includes family empowerment programs as well as supports for home-based childcare providers. We focus on working in MDHA’s affordable housing communities and helping communities heal through the lens of early learning. We advance equity in education by increasing low-income families’ access to high-quality early learning. We also work to address and prevent cycles of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Addressing racial inequities in early childhood education is at the center of our work. We empower Black early educators, foster culturally sustaining pedagogy, and actively work to eliminate opportunity gaps for Black children.

Healing Circle

Healing Circles invite parents and caregivers to care for their own health and wellbeing. They are a space for parents and caregivers to talk openly about personal challenges, family stress, generational trauma, and mental/emotional health. Parents/caregivers will learn with and from each other as they explore topics such as stress management, mindfulness, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), healing from racial trauma, building support systems, social emotional learning for children and more.

Lunch is provided and you can go home with diapers!

Family Playgroup

The Family Playgroup invites parents/caregivers to play and learn alongside their young child while also connecting with other parents/caregivers in their community. Spend quality time bonding with your child, supporting their healthy development and preparing them to be confident learners. You will also learn about what other community resources and programs are available to support your child and family.

Home-Based Childcare Support Group

Do you currently provide childcare in your home or have you dreamed of one day becoming an early childhood educator? Do you live in an MDHA affordable housing community?

If so, Early Embrace wants to support you! Early Embrace is developing a program to help residents in MDHA housing to start their own home-based childcare businesses.

The Home-based Childcare Network is an opportunity for residents who care for children to access the startup funds, learning materials, and training they need in order to start a childcare business. The network will also provide on-going training, mentorship and other supports so that you have help every step of the way.
